Tim Walz quietly stated, "You might not know it, but I haven't given a lot of big speeches like this," as his keynote speech to the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night came to an end.
There was an understated air to the scene. The expression on his face, the shrug of his shoulders, the way his white eyebrows shot up like an apology. even the term "major speech."
It wasn't a major speech. With 333 million people depending on the outcome of this speech, it was a historic one.
Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota introduced his family and rallied the crowd to get behind Kamala Harris in “the fourth quarter” of the election. |
It was all out for the goal line from that point on. At the conclusion of your sixteen-minute speech, Walz, a little-known governor from Minnesota's Midwest, should naturally bring up his experience coaching high school football. After all, he's been thrust into the most important election of the past few years in the world's most powerful nation.
He invoked the suspenseful finish that the US is currently experiencing as thousands of Democratic delegates from all 50 states crowded into the United Centre and screamed "Coach! Coach! Coach!" "We're in the fourth quarter," he declared, sending the audience into a frenzy of enthusiasm.
We've conceded a field goal. However, we are in attack mode and possess the ball. Driving through the field. And we have the perfect team, boy.
Walz didn't have to inform the delegates of the score at the conclusion of the game, but he never got the chance. The race for their hearts and thoughts was already won by him.
